Harvest The Stator

Brand new MG2 came in and I was responsible for removing the stator from MG2.

Remove all bolt on top except for the three bolts in the middle of MG2.

The three bolt in the middle holds the center magnet down.

If there is no transmission fluid in  MG2..... Add transmission fluid for easy extraction.

Shell without the Stator.

Broken Water Pump

Gen 2 Prius taxi came in with a loud whining noise.  We concluded that it was the water pump.  We followed where the sound was coming from and we also noticed pink coolant all over the area.  We first drained the coolant then we remove and replaced the water pump.

All the pink coolant confirms a leak coming from the water pump.

Fixed... New water pump.

Bad Water pump.

After installing the water pump.  Before you start the car... connect  Techstream and  manually activate the  water pump  with the computer.  Do this about two times so coolant can run through before you start the car.   After starting the car use a pedal depressor on the accelerator.  As the engine runs you add coolant and make sure that the thermostat opens and the fans run about two or three times.    Erase any codes left in the car.

Noise in the Axle

Nissan Altima taxi came in with noise coming from the passenger side axial.  So we end up changing the axle.

Remember top remove the tiny wheel sensor  and or have a pan ready  to catch the transmission fluid  before you pull the Axle.

Axle removed

Make sure you have everything on the new Axle before you  install it.

Done and all ready to go.  Don't forget the wheel sensor and  top off the transmission fluid before you finish the job.

Friday Night .....

This was the first Friday night I ever worked.  Hmm I think it went pretty well.  Learned another simple reminder today.  Sometimes a little slower is the fastest way.   Finding the best route or creating your system will allow you to be the most efficient at what you do.  For example on a oil change today.  I removed the drain plug then the filter.  My next move was get the oil from the back.  Brought oil to the car then realized I forgot the filter.  I go back to get the filter and I realized how I wasn't efficient.  Something so simple took me two moves.  Come on Ray....  So I fixed it.  From now on I get the oil and the filter at the same time.  Efficiency is very important in this industry and hopefully I can become a very efficient person.
On the side note..  Today is my daughter's  1st birthday.  Wow that was fast.  Happy Birthday Jordin !!

Towed in no start.

Nissan Altima Hybrid towed in with a no start.  Code P0A7A ... Bad inverter.  Removed and replaced the bad Inverter (pictures below).  Add coolant with vacuum feed.   After installing the new inverter we remove the ground on the 12v battery to reset all the codes.   Took it for a test drive to reset any other codes left behind.
Drained inverter coolant before starting.  Also remove the Service Plug for safety.

Make sure you remove all connectors and hoses before you remove.

Remove all brackets and place in new inverter before you install.

Another Gen 2 Prius taxi came in a while back with a malfunction on his instrument cluster panel (black out).  We gave him a loner unit that we installed while his original was sent out for repairs.   He came today because his origanal unit was ready for installation.  Stripped the dash from drivers side to the passenger side.  Thank you Rick for teaching me the way.

Remove all pieces from left to right to get to the center console.

Center console removed from the car and unscrew unit and replace with  rebuilt one.

Complete after new instrument cluster was finish.  Thanks again Rick.

Haha we figured you out.

A Gen 2 Prius came in and said the center console power plugs was not working.  We checked all the fuses ... and all was good.    We took a mirror and found a penny inside the cigarette lighter plug    (picture down below).   Coin stuck inside did not allow the chargers to go totally in so it couldn't power up.  Fix... Remove coin and all good.
Our little mirror showed us our little copper friend  the penny inside the power  plug.

Replaced the 12v battery on Prius. (note) must attach memory saver device in the DLC (data link connector) to avoid losing car memory.

Also remove and replace Nissan Altima hybrid battery.  View pictures below.  We used a rebuilt Camry HV Battery.  Must remember to remove the dc dc converter from Altima HV battery to put into the rebuilt Camry Battery for the HV battery to work properly.

Inside the Nissan Altima's trunk
Old HV Battery next to rebuilt HV battery
DC/DC Converter from Altima must be transferred into Camry HV battery to work  properly.
Empty spot is where the DC/DC converter needs to go.
Swap completed and done.

We need more light?

Gen 2 Prius came in and wanted more lights on his car.  He wanted to make sure he saw the people walking.  So he wanted us to install two sets of fog lights.  Yes two sets.. hopefully the people will see him after the installation.  I help cut two small plastic grill.  Find electical diagram for the fog light circuit.  Install switch and run new wires to lights.  Then custom mount the two lights.  End result was some beautiful bright fog lights.  Thanks again Greg for teaching me everything.  Awesome.

Near the end of the day our crew all chipped in and help clean the shop.   It's great working with people that that are team players.  Makes work here much enjoyable place to be at.

Just getting started
Hopefully he will see people and the people will see him

Man this is super clean
